@Anon#2: Birds need binocular vision and the depth perception that comes with it in order to land and hunt. Like many prey animals, they have eyes on the side of their head that can be used independent of each other, but they can still focus them both forward in order to see particular things better.

We have all fell flat on our face a few times, just lucky enough to not have a camera rolling!
